Printing in 2022 vs. 2023

Why we should print in 2023

More paper/printer choices (particularly, finding a good paper that‘s not as much $$$)

More time to work on the index etc.

  • And the cover
  • And extra articles
  • And the site
  • And the extra rewards
  • And SSD/database (not super important)

Potential to save a lot of money

Tie with the 150 year anniversary of the typewriter (1873 is a crucial date I think)

Time to build Marcinstarter if need be (debatable)

Time to breathe after a long journey

Time to build up a marketing list and make contacts with people slowly

Time to find a book publicist

Potentially time to do a mini-project: you could create a pre-release chapter or even book prospectus that would be beautiful, not terribly expensive, and easy to ship, creating more interest.

Why we should print in 2022

Might end up in the same situation (same printer + cost) a year from now

Recession

Burning out/Getting tired on the whole project (Parkinson’s Law, etc.). (There’s a reason Pause and Break are on the same key 😭.)

Needing to sustain interest even more (extra newsletters)

Stress of learning new things and having to incorporate them in the finished book

Potentially spending more money on editing/proofreading again

Might end up having to redo things like the Kickstarter video

Potential competing typewriter books come out (because of 1873)

The calculator book comes out first (not a big deal)

Some things that are figured out might change (e.g. the paper might not be available)
